Dry
Stack Wall Calculations
To estimate need when building a dry stone wall, figure
that one ton of stone will build about 15 cubic feet of wall (1' high
x 1' wide x 15' long). Determine your total need in cubic feet (length
x width x height). Then calculate your cost as follows:
Total Cubic Feet /15 = Approximate tons needed
Natural
Stone Estimating Guide
4" Veneer = 35-40 Sq.Ft./Ton
6" Veneer = 25-30 Sq.Ft./Ton
8" Veneer = 20 Sq.Ft./Ton
3"-6" Veneer = 30Sq.Ft./Ton
3"-5" Veneer = 35 Sq.Ft./Ton
4"-8" Veneer = 25 Sq.Ft./Ton
Note: All converges are approximate. Based on mason's ability,
how they are laid, and the style of mortar being used.
